Linbian Project (Completed)
Built in the 1940s, the TRA's Linbian Railway Bridge is a singletrack, non-electrified steel beam bridge. The bridge rises only about two meters high, placing it lower than the dike on both sides. During typhoons, torrential rains often force the closure of the floodgates, stopping train movement on the South Link Line. On November 15, 2006, the Executive Yuan therefore approved the Linbian Railway Bridge Improvement Project to resolve the problem of track flooding due to the insufficient height of the Linbian River Railway Bridge respective to flood controls.

The Linbian Project extends about 4.827 kilometers from Zhenan Station to Jiadong Station. In addition to elevating Linbian Station and the Linbian rail section, the Linbian River Railway Bridge will be raised to a height of about five meters in conjunction with a flood control plan, fully resolving flood-related safety issues for rail travel. The project is due to be completed in June 2012.
